Limited edition of 3
Stainless steel mirror
Fractious Mirror reflects Gustavo Martini’s ongoing inquiry into the contrast between geometric precision and material resistance. The piece belongs to a limited edition of three and takes the form of a minimal, full-body mirror defined by solid, orthogonal lines and a striking duality of surface treatment.
Crafted entirely from stainless steel, its central face is polished to a reflective sheen, while the surrounding edges remain matte and textured—retaining the raw grain of the material. This intentional rupture challenges the formal clarity of the piece, as the polished surface breaks free from the expected boundaries and blurs into imperfection.
Editioned in just three pieces, Fractious Mirror functions as both object and metaphor. It invites the viewer to consider how even the most rational structure can contain traces of resistance.
