Italic painting series

This collection of paintings brings typography to the forefront of artistic exploration, deconstructing familiar symbols into abstract forms. Displayed together or individually, each piece invites reflection, encouraging a new awareness of symbols that often go unnoticed yet hold significant importance in daily communication. For example, the presence of serifs in a font subtly shifts the tone of a message —serif fonts evoke a more traditional, formal voice, while sans-serif fonts feel cleaner and more direct.

Each painting, created on a 25 cm x 25 cm x 5 cm canvas, embodies a sculptural quality, bringing the bold lines the sense of depth. Starting with a black background, the process involves masking and doing up to 7 layers of white paint, deconstructing the image both in form and method.
As abstract pieces, these paintings can be rotated in any direction, allowing new interpretations of the orginal letters, further enriching the viewer’s experience.
This inverted approach symbolizes a reconstructed view of written language that once brought into the world of art, these symbols become subjects for exploration and meaningful discussion.
