EDGE

This project, part of the Salone Satellite Permanent Collection, was first presented in 2016 and quickly became a significant influence on the design scene, becoming source of inspiration for other creatives. It was also showcased at the Triennale di Milano, one of the most prestigious design museums.

The concept originated from a personal perspective, emphasizing the act of drawing as an essential step in the design process. The research focused on the transition between the imaginary and execution, leading to the idea of a black line, drawn with a pen, that fills the paper with a graphic grid. By painting spaces between the rows, surfaces were created that transformed the design into a visual room, allowing one to metaphorically pass through walls. The thin dark surfaces of the furniture reinforced a sense of tangibility, making the project more than just individual objects; it evolved into a connected architecture, blurring the boundaries between design and installation, idea and reality.

This innovative approach garnered attention and led to Martini being recognized as “Next Designer of the Year” by the prestigious Wallpaper* magazine. The project established a new design language, resonating powerfully in an era before the concept of “Instagrammable” aesthetics took hold.
